The team announced the creation of committees to address top priorities in the administration, as well as establishing a three-month meeting schedule for the committee’s work to be conducted. Each committee will consist of a diverse selection of individuals from across the parish to develop recommendations in their various areas.

“The first meeting of our Win EBR Transition Team proved to be very productive in establishing a cooperative and transparent path forward to getting the work for this new administration underway,” said Sen. Rick Edmonds, chairman of the transition team.

The team established the following committees, with a named chair and co-chair for each:

  • Education (Early Childhood & K-12) – Chris Meyer, chair; David Alvarez, co-chair
  • Government Efficiency – Mike Polito, chair; Gerard Tarleton, co-chair
  • Healthcare – Catherine O’Neal, MD, chair; Leah Cullins, co-chair
  • Higher Education and Technical Colleges – John Walters, chair; Todd Grigsby, co-chair

  • Public Safety – Jeff LeDuff, chair; Nial Patel, co-chair
  • North BR Community Relations – Darryl Hurst, chair; David Beach, co-chair
  • Quality of Life – Chris Toombs, chair; Jennifer Richardson, co-chair

“The task of each committee will be to identify assets and opportunities for positive change, assess the community’s feedback on assets and opportunities for progress, and create a set of recommendations and present them to Mayor-President Edwards regarding short-term and longer-term goals,” Edmonds said.

The committees will meet once a month in January, February and March, with recommendations to be issued monthly.  A complete report of all findings, recommendations and data will be submitted at the conclusion of the transition committees’ work, by the end of March.
